Yeah i didn't believe it either, but the N95 8GB has some Downsides as well .. They are not much, but they are here and you will recognize them unfortunately. It will be a short Post, i promise that, but since i am a critical Person as well, i have to mention this Things as well!
Slider:
First of all, the Slider has definitely improved compared to the N95 Classic. The cracking Sound is gone, like you seen it in my Video of the bad N95 Classic Slider. So at first i thought the Slider-Problems are over with the N95 8GB Version, but they are not. In closed Position, the Screen Part has a slight Space in EVERY Direction, not only Up and Down, but Left and Right as well. I never dropped the Phone on the Floor, i always took good Care of it, but still the Space is there. It's a bit irritating, when you close the Phone and only work on the Keypad, it just doesn't feel right.
The Slider has indeed improved, i'll never deny that, but still it doesn't feel right. I had a cheap Samsung Slider in my Hands 2 Weeks ago, it was only a 200 Euro Phone, but even that Phone sported a Slider, like it should have been. Solid as Hell, no Space whatsoever. That honestly shocked me. The Phone was 200 Euro only, the N95 8GB costs about 600+ Euro .. There's still a lot to improve in that Section if you ask me.
Joypad Buttons:
I can't be Friends with the Joypad. I don't know why and maybe it's just my personal Opinion, but the Joypad Buttons feeling a bit too soft, they could have been harder. Also i think the Joypad goes a bit too deep inside the Phone, it just feels so soft, i can't help .. I like the Classic Version Joypad way more ..
Screen:
While the Screen has actually gotten bigger, the Resolution has still not changed! That means 240x320 Resolution, stretched to a 2,8" Screen. It looks nice, no Doubt about that, but why not finally VGA Resolution? Or at least 352x416? I mean Web Browsing could be so much more Fun, my Nokia E70 Screen is a lot smaller, but sport 352x416 and you know what? I LOVE browsing on it .. Watching Pictures or working on Applications is Fun on the bigger N95 8GB Screen, but Web Browsing? Prepare yourself for a LOT of Scrolling Work!
USB Port:
I read some serious Problems with the USB Port of the Nokia N95 8GB and it unfortunately became true. The Nokia Specifications clearly stating "USB 2.0 via Micro USB interface and mass storage class support to support drag and drop functionality". Ok.. But: 33 Minutes for 0,98 GB of Data?? Are you kidding me?
No Camera Protection:
While the N95 Classic had this awesome Camera Protection, which started the Camera Application when opened, the N95 had to lose this - mainly to make Space for the bigger Battery. Was this neccessary? Why not save Space in other Way? I'm sure there ARE other Ways and i seriously miss this great Camera Protection on the 8 GB Version.
The N95 8GB is not the perfect Phone. But it surely close to it .. As i said, i am a critical Person, so i just had to give this Side as well! There are not much bad Things on the N95 8GB, but they need to be mentioned as well!

I don't think Nokia will ever release a perfect phone, then everyone will buy that phone and Nokia will not make as much money

Note that speed of loading files onto the 8GB disk should be faster with the new v15 firmware. Give it a try!

that's funny yesterday i was also thinking for what im looking for in my next phone (in other words what i miss/dislike about my n95-8gb)
and i came up with the same kind of stuff:
-resolution
-slider
-xenon flash
-faster usb
- camera protection
but also i'd like (someday)
touch screen AND qwerty keypad. if they could fit all of that + what the n95 already has into the n95's size i would be very happy :)

good points Michael. Slider doesn't move sideways here in closed mode, but it does move up and down. The screen res could've been improved, totally with you on that, also with camera protection and usb data transfer. Do you think bluetooth would've been faster, should test it out.
Still, I have to disagree with you concerning the joypad, it's a joy to use it, i'm actually coming from my joystick 3250, it's great!

Nokia could release a perfect phone, because now it could be consider perfect, but in the future there will be new things out there and the phone could be improved. A phone can always be improved in some way.
